  4. Ice packs — Applying coldness to the affected area can decrease swelling and remedy the pain.
  5. Sitz baths — Place the sitz bath over the toilet and ensure that it has warm water inside of it. Sit in it for 15 minutes, two to three times per day. A doctor can tell you if it is acceptable for you to add baking soda or salt to the sitz bath for extra relief. If your symptoms do not improve within a week, see a doctor. A doctor can prescribe the necessary suppositories, cream or ointment.
